Knut's introduction to this page:

"The idea with this page is to explain as straighforward as possible some of the most important terms and expressions in string acoustics. I remember how confusing some of them were to me when I started reading the acoustic litterature. In my explanations I shall be trying to use lay-man's terms as much as possible. Please don't hesitate if you find something incomprehensible, or even wrong in my explanations. Notice that I always when appropriate include the dimension of the term (e.g., [kg/s] for "resistance"). It is a good habit, if you try to do some calculations with physical parameters, to see if the dimensions add upp correctly..."
